Our HMB, Ride the Thunder Dragon tour is ideal for anyone, from the avid cyclist to the casual rider.

We’ll start in Kathmandu, capital of Nepal. After arriving, you’ll be taken to your hotel and we’ll help to unpack your bike and reassemble it. Our mechanic will give your bike the once over to make sure everything is in good working condition before the tour starts. A HMB welcome dinner that night will get everyone acquainted and informed on the days ahead.

Bhutan is a tiny country, about the same size and shape as Switzerland. It has worked hard to stay independent and unexploited, allowing only 6000 tourists within its borders each year. The integrity of this small country leaves one to wonder if they have actually stepped back in time, living in another era, a true Shangri-La.

Our group will fly from Kathmandu to Bhutan, landing in Paro. After landing, we’ll unpack the bikes, then stow all our gear onto the waiting support vehicles. Our tour will start from the airport as we head toward the city of Paro.

Paro Valley is one of the most populated areas in the country because of its proximity to the airport, and it offers some of the best lodging in Bhutan. But this valley is worth exploring: many important Dzongs have been constructed here and a visit to Ta Dzong, the National Museum of Bhutan, can fill an afternoon. We will ride throughout this valley heading toward Thimphu, perhaps the most unusual capital city in the world, home to the royal family and the seat of government.

While in Thimphu, you’ll have an opportunity to visit Bhutan’s National Library, the Thangka Painting School and great religious sites. But as with all capital cities, we’ll need to depart so we can see the other side of Bhutan: the remote rural villages that dot this small country.
